THE BREAST DRESS

This dress is a playful wearable that addresses issues of femininity, intimacy, and the gaze. It also raises questions about the definition of "skin", about what is inside versus what lies outside, as well as the tension between private and public.

The dress is a second skin with metal snaps sewn onto it, which are used both to attach the silicone excrescences and to refer to nipples. The excrescences are foam shapes that allude to breasts. The wearer can decide to add breasts to the dress as a performative act, as a mean of personal expression, or to distract/attract attention and focus.

This dress has been used as a performance piece to explore the social and cultural space of interactive garments, as well as a technical exploration in attaching modules, which could in the future be instrumented, such as the Leeches or the Octopus.
